Tis The Season…

Sunday, 30. May 2010 21:26

…to BBQ!!

For my birthday my friends Elljaypea and Linny got me a BBQ…I’ve been BBQing since.  My friend Qwendy got me spices, secret ingredients, tri tip and chicken.  I made the tri tip on Friday, and tonight I made chicken, and it was delish!!

Before she died, my friend Jaime, at group dinners, would play “name the secret ingredient” in all the dishes.  Can you name the secret ingredient?

Go ahead, give it a try.

That was some good stuff!

Yeah…that’s Vaseline and Hedgehog food there…I don’t know why Vaseline is in the kitchen…I’ll go put it away now.  (NEITHER are the secret ingredient!!)

Today I am grateful I am not the Sports Illustrated photographer whose neck was stepped on by an errant player in the Lakers vs Suns game.

Having a Birthday Isn’t for Sissies!

Wednesday, 26. May 2010 10:31

Yes, I know, I’ve been lazy in updating my blog.  I don’t really know if you can call it lazy so much as I’ve been crazy busy!  Seriously, BUSY!

May is the month of my birth, so we par-taaaaaayed!  Let me lay it out for you, ready?

May 4th – Dodger Game…LOSE and PAINFULLY SO (but I got a blanket out of the deal, so I guess it’s not a total loss)!

May 8th – For my birthday I wanted to see Iron Man 2, since the production company wouldn’t delay the opening a week for my true birthday we had to celebrate early.

A group of friends went up to CityWalk to see it and then we went to Bubba Gump for dinner.

YUMMY!!!

I have great friends!  …um, with wacky hats!

Following that, another dodger game.  LOSE! [dislike]

As a side note…Chris Vulture has forbade me to attend another Dodger game.  I do believe he thinks I’m some sort of jinx.  Do you believe THAT??!!

May 11 – This was a big day…BIG!  I’m the Camp Director for the youth girls in my church.  This year we decided to have a fundraiser to help offset the price of camp.  I suggested we do a concert.  There is a woman in my ward that is a professional jazz pianist and she is AMAZING.  I thought it would be fantastic to have her do a concert.  Long story short, we did it, people said I wouldn’t make much money, and I proved the naysayers wrong.  W R O N G.  It was a HUGE success, we made enough money so that the girls are all paid for and it has only had rave reviews.  Thankyouverymuch!

May 15 – Renaissance Fair.  Wild and Weird!

May 17 – Dinner at Red Lobster with friends on the actual day of my birth.

May 19 – Dinner with my good friend HappyTam.  HappyTam and I have been friends for, like, 35 years or something.  Crazy!  I love her!

May 21 – My good friend Bryce took me to Magic Mountain.  AAA had a deal where, for $25, you could go from 6-Midnight.  It wasn’t crowded at ALL, we stayed to the bitter end, and for the most part I had fun.

This?  Was not fun AT ALL!!!

DO YOU HEAR ME??!!!!

Top Speed:  76mph
Elevation:  20 stories
Length:  3,610 feet

However, Terminator Salvation could be my new favorite ride!

May 22 – Out of the house by 7am to go to San Diego to the Zoo.  Spent the ENTIRE day there.  My friend Elljaypea had a niece that was going to be there, so we wanted to go have a fun day with them.  And we did!  (See all pictures here)

May 24 – Took the day off to go support my friend HappyTam.  It’s not for me to go into detail, but she needed it.  As her son says, “My dad is hardcore!”  We’ll see about that.

Last night my friend Linny and I went to Anaheim after work to meet up with her brother who is here on business.  We spent the evening togther and had a great time!

SEE WHY I’M TIRED??!  And why I haven’t been around?

Qwendy: awesome
Qwendy: ok.. heard sirens 5 minutes ago
Qwendy: I am on my way.
Qwendy: they will re route me
Qwendy: don’t you think?
Qwendy: but I’ll try

Qwendy: I will call

So we brought it around for a life lesson.  We are always looking for ways to teach, we’re givers that way.

Update #1: Second Breaking news: 405 Freeway shutdown in Long Beach area due to police activity

I do not have anyone in that area to dispatch, Qwendy and I are now taking applications for people willing to be dispatched in an emergency…or at our whim, whichever!

Updated #2: There was nothing to see on the train tracks…a detached headlight and a lot traffic enforcement…that’s all.

The One Where Phil Disappoints Me…

Monday, 10. May 2010 14:03

If you watch The Amazing Race (TAR) but haven’t yet watched the finale, you might want to stop reading now…because I have a few things to say!

First of all, Phil has disappointed me and it’s going to take some time to get over.

Let me start by saying that I never liked Carol and Brandy…of the two, Carol (she’s the blonde, right?) seemed to be the less vile, she would at least bite her tongue on occasion and *TRY* to be nice-ish.  Brandy though, wow, what a piece of work, she’s got some serious deservatude, doesn’t she?  Then again, I never cared for the tantrums (OVER AND OVER) of Brent and Caite.

During the race Brent and Caite u-turned Carol and Brandy…all within the rules of the game.  Brandy was mean and nasty to Caite the whole race, so her decision was fueled by vengeance and not a particularly strategic move.  However, no rule says it has to be strategic.

U-Turn Ahead
Teams may choose to u-turn any team they wish, but they may only use the u-turn once during the race.  If a team is u-turned, they must go back to the Detour and complete the Detour that they did not complete.

It’s pretty clear that ANYONE can u-turn ANYONE ELSE for ANY reason.

This is what Brandy looked like when Brent and Caite entered the stadium for the finale mat, while everyone else is clapping and whooping and hollering…

Now that's real class, Brandy

Phil makes some small talk with Brent and Caite and then it happens.  Phil, Phil, Phil, why are you turning a lovely moment into a cat fight?  Why?

Phil: “You are the only woman to finish the race in the final three, but there are two women over there that don’t feel that…”

To which Brandy breaks in with:

“I don’t want to hear sorry from you guys.  You purposely whacked us, you said you wanted to be the only woman left standing and you are.  Logically, you u-turn teams that are stronger, the Cowboys should have been u-turned.  You can’t seem to think logically.  I don’t want to hear sorry from you.”

Caite: “Maybe y’all should have treated people a little bit nicer.”

Brandy: “Hey, I’m sorry you can’t handle it.”

And this is where I start liking Caite just a little bit: “I am handling it.  Obviously I’m the one standing here and not you.”

With that, Brandy folds her arms in defeat and tries to pretend she’s not defeated, which she clearly is.

Phil, I think we might be broken up a little bit over that, why give someone filled with such anger and hatred more airtime?  WHY?

In other news, if I have to hear BRO one more time, I might open a vein.  And where I started disliking the brother even more?  Here:

Cutting in Line?

Cowboys: “Are y’all gonna try to check in before us?  You wasn’t gonna do that, was ya?”

Brother: “Oh, yeah.  I’m standing right behind them.”

Cowboys: “Wow, they come in six hours after us, and here Jordan is gonna to try to check in before us.”

Brother: “Yeah, I am.”

Okay, so that just made me mad from the start.  1. it was unnecessary, there were enough seats for all three teams and there was no need to be nasty, 2. really, you’re going to revert to kindergarten and cut in line when it clearly doesn’t matter?  What mattered was getting into first class, which was a good move, but it didn’t matter because I didn’t want them to win anyway.

With the exception of a couple of teams, I did not care for anyone this season.  Which is sad…
