I Must Admit….

…I’m blue and it’s for reasons I prefer not to go into right now, or maybe ever, so don’t ask, thanks.
I do not like trains, I never have. When I was a kid my mom and I took a train over several states and I have to say, I hated it. Everyone, all STRANGERS, sleeping right there together in one big car…out in the open [shudder]. And when I had to go to the bathroom, they were locked, all of them and I had to crawl UNDER the stall to get in.
Today I got a little something on one of the singles sites I belong to…go ahead laugh it up.

Hi. I just wanted to ask you if you are near beautiful Downtown [my hometown]? ( LOL ) I don’t do IM, as most people get fed up with my slow typing and sign off before I can even answer their first question. Your profile states that you like swimming. How about float trips, or tubing down a slow river? I see that you like some movies made after comic book heroes. I like trains, hence my user name. So I know pretty much about at least what the current on line L.A. heavy/light rail map shows. How close is [my hometown]to the Light/Heavy rail Metro lines? I hope you have a pleasant evening. [XXX]

Hello [XXX],
I do live and work very close to beautiful downtown [my hometown]. I love the area and consider myself lucky to be here.
I’m not sure what a “float trip” is but sounds like it could be fun. Give me some rapids though, okay?
I’m sorry that I do not share your love of trains.
On my mission my companion and I were doing a little exploring and were almost hit (in our car) by a train that crossed our path on an unmarked street. So, I’m not sure if I can warm up to a train… [whisper] they’re sort of scary!

Him:
Hi cimblog(tm). A float trip is either paddling down a river in a canoe, or using innertubes to float down the river and relax and enjoy the beauty of nature that Heavenly Father has provided for us. In Missouri, there are several rivers that have under ground springs and flow out of caves to meet the river that you can float on. There are rapids to be sure, but they can cause danger to life and limb, and people ignore the warning signs and the no trepassing signs just to see what is there. The springs powerful surge can drown you; that is why the warning and no trespassing signs are posted. But the underground spring and river is interesting to watch. Sorry to hear that you were almost hit by a train in your car on an unmarked street. Usually the engineer has seen a sign to sound his horn> And on most U.S. railroads there is a rule book (for some areas) that the engineer has to have the locomotive bell ringing continously so that people are aware that the train is approaching an unmarked street crossing.
Have a pleasant evening.

That? Is just a lot of information on trains… He knows the train schedule where I live, and he lives WAY on the other side of the country. I mean, good for him that he has a hobby and is so diligent about it, it’s impressive when you think about it…but, he’s 10 years older than me and from what I gather from his profile he may live at home. [XXX], thank you for your interest, I’m sure you’re a lovely man and I appreciate the attention, but sadly, I don’t think we have a lot in common.
*sigh*
