Testing

Friday, 27. June 2008 23:39

A while ago I posted about my new camera…the one I don’t like…the one I had to buy because someone STOLE my camera that I loved. But, I’m over that now…mostly.

ANYWAY…

I scoured the internet to find tips and suggestions for settings on my camera. I was just outside testing the settings and here’s what I got.

Testing

The conversation went something like this:

Opossum: What’s all that flashing?
cimblog(tm): Just testing my new camera.
Opossum: Oh, hmmm.  Well, go on then.
cimblog(tm): Thanks for stopping by.
[opossum retreats under the house]

…but wow, look at that picture!

So, for other pictures from tonight have a look here … If you have any suggestions for settings on my Canon S3 IS I’m happy to hear them. At least it’s getting better!

Thievery is NOT Afoot

Friday, 27. June 2008 9:46

After the other night, it’s difficult not to be a little jumpy at every strange sound or thump.  Last night I was all alone, sitting in my living room watching TV with the door open.  Bella was at the screen door keeping watch of the outside….when all of a sudden she LUNGED at the screen door creating such a clatter that I jumped off the couch ready to unleash the wrath of cimblog(tm) on whoever dared come in.  Um, there was nothing there.  Thanks a lot Bella.  (My heart is still racing a little.)

Thievery is Afoot

Burglar

The good news is, for once it wasn’t me…the bad news it was my best friend. I live next door to two of my friends and last night we were all out, LP and I were at a game night and LM was at her rehearsal. I was the first to leave the party around 10:40pm and took a friend home. By the time I found a parking place (parking here S U C K S!) and hiked back to my house it was around 11:15-ish. Walking down the alley I saw my friends garage open so I figured LP must have gotten home. As I passed their backyard I saw what I assumed was LP at her door and didn’t think anything of it. I unlocked my door and the “LP” left the backyard.

I went home and did all my chores and went to bed around midnight. Around 12:30 LM came over, “cimblog(tm), wake up, I need your help. I need you to come over and be brave with me, I think someone has broken into my house.” She asked me if LP was home and if I’d seen her, and if I’d been over to her house. Someone had broken in and we weren’t 100% sure the person wasn’t still there.

For the most part the house looked undisturbed, but LPs bedroom door was locked, which it never is. I tentatively knocked on the door and didn’t hear anything so I jimmied the lock and went in. There were some random things on the floor and the window air conditioner was in the window skiwampus, someone had definitely been in the house. LM was missing her laptop and her camera and LP was missing her jar of money. The strange thing is they didn’t take very much considering there were 2 other laptops in the house and a lot of other stuff. But a lot of things were moved like they were actually looking for something specific. And the hanging plant they knocked down? They were nice enough to hang it back up, but not clean the dirt off the floor.

A cop came and took our statements and looked around the house. Officer Tommy was very cute! Because this was a felony he said that they should call forensics to come and have a look around. Around 3:15am he left and we looked around the house a little more…  I think I got to bed around 3:45.  zzzzz

Forensics came this morning and got some good stuff.  Hopefully they catch this @#$^&E$$.

Fingers crossed!

As a side note, the people at work are really mad at me for having even gone over there…”you could have been SHOT!…or something!”  When I said I felt bad that I hadn’t actually gone into the backyard when s/he was leaving the first time they said, “OH MY GOSH, are you crazy..??”  Yes, I guess maybe I am, because I STILL wish I had caught them when I saw them at 11:15.  Humph!

As another side note, Officer Tommy was very cute and wants to learn to play the guitar.  I think LM will be giving him AND ME guitar lessons in the near future.

So our little Rally Cat has rallied back and is doing quite well.  He’s playing with his sisters, running around and eating like nobody’s business.

Here’s a little proof:

The Tooth Fairy

Friday, 20. June 2008 10:43

This may be considered a spoiler alert. I’m just warning you.

One of the people I work with has an 8 year old daughter who just lost a tooth. Rightfully expecting the Tooth Fairy to visit, she put a note under her pillow. You see her friends at school have told her the Tooth Fairy is not real, so she wrote:

“Dear Tooth Fairy,
You don’t have to give me that much money. Thank you for waking up very late at night. Who are you tooth fairy? You can write your name here. —>

From,
Caitlin”

My friend brought the note in and the “Tooth Fairy” write her a personal note with a drawing of herself! WOWIE! Here is the note the Tooth Fairy wrote her.

Two Things

Tuesday, 17. June 2008 10:27

1. As many of you know, I am in school getting my AA in Web Design.  I may go for my BA after that, but we’ll see how much debt I am in when this is over.  I currently have a 3.93 GPA (woot) and find that most of me fellow students are…um…not terribly educated.  I’m in a speech class right now and I have an A, while it seems my classmates are struggling just to pass the course.

cimmy: OH
cimmy:  my last speech?
cimmy:  (that you did not actually see)
OJai: heh, yes?
cimmy: 95/100
OJai: wooooooooot
OJai: :: applause ::
cimmy:
class average?
cimmy: 50.42
OJai: hahahah
cimmy: I’m really F-ing up the curve
cimmy:
poor schlubs
OJai: LOL you totally are
OJai:  good job

2.  The update on Rally isn’t good.  The vets at the shelter are not terribly hopeful and told me to be prepared for the worst.  They will continue treatment but are concerned that he isn’t showing signs of improvement and can’t find anything to be causing it.  It’s assumed that it’s just fading cat syndrome which happens to some abandoned kittens.

I’ve separated him from his siblings and am giving him some different food hoping that will stimulate him a little more.  Fight little Rally!
