I went and visited my good friends in Ventura Friday.  Jesse wanted her picture taken on the beach in her ballerina costume.  It was a lot of fun!

Having a Birthday Isn’t for Sissies!

Wednesday, 26. May 2010 10:31

Yes, I know, I’ve been lazy in updating my blog.  I don’t really know if you can call it lazy so much as I’ve been crazy busy!  Seriously, BUSY!

May is the month of my birth, so we par-taaaaaayed!  Let me lay it out for you, ready?

May 4th – Dodger Game…LOSE and PAINFULLY SO (but I got a blanket out of the deal, so I guess it’s not a total loss)!

May 8th – For my birthday I wanted to see Iron Man 2, since the production company wouldn’t delay the opening a week for my true birthday we had to celebrate early.

A group of friends went up to CityWalk to see it and then we went to Bubba Gump for dinner.

YUMMY!!!

I have great friends!  …um, with wacky hats!

Following that, another dodger game.  LOSE! [dislike]

As a side note…Chris Vulture has forbade me to attend another Dodger game.  I do believe he thinks I’m some sort of jinx.  Do you believe THAT??!!

May 11 – This was a big day…BIG!  I’m the Camp Director for the youth girls in my church.  This year we decided to have a fundraiser to help offset the price of camp.  I suggested we do a concert.  There is a woman in my ward that is a professional jazz pianist and she is AMAZING.  I thought it would be fantastic to have her do a concert.  Long story short, we did it, people said I wouldn’t make much money, and I proved the naysayers wrong.  W R O N G.  It was a HUGE success, we made enough money so that the girls are all paid for and it has only had rave reviews.  Thankyouverymuch!

May 15 – Renaissance Fair.  Wild and Weird!

May 17 – Dinner at Red Lobster with friends on the actual day of my birth.

May 19 – Dinner with my good friend HappyTam.  HappyTam and I have been friends for, like, 35 years or something.  Crazy!  I love her!

May 21 – My good friend Bryce took me to Magic Mountain.  AAA had a deal where, for $25, you could go from 6-Midnight.  It wasn’t crowded at ALL, we stayed to the bitter end, and for the most part I had fun.

This?  Was not fun AT ALL!!!

DO YOU HEAR ME??!!!!

Top Speed:  76mph
Elevation:  20 stories
Length:  3,610 feet

However, Terminator Salvation could be my new favorite ride!

May 22 – Out of the house by 7am to go to San Diego to the Zoo.  Spent the ENTIRE day there.  My friend Elljaypea had a niece that was going to be there, so we wanted to go have a fun day with them.  And we did!  (See all pictures here)

May 24 – Took the day off to go support my friend HappyTam.  It’s not for me to go into detail, but she needed it.  As her son says, “My dad is hardcore!”  We’ll see about that.

Last night my friend Linny and I went to Anaheim after work to meet up with her brother who is here on business.  We spent the evening togther and had a great time!

SEE WHY I’M TIRED??!  And why I haven’t been around?

Owls and Chases

Wednesday, 31. March 2010 10:56

qwendy and I love a good high-speed chase.  We’re glued to the TV when one starts and like to stay to the bitter end!  The other day qwendy was driving home from work and heard on the news there was one happening.  She called me immediately and I got the feed from the internet and gave her the blow by blow.  Until I slammed the phone down and went to the window to watch it pass right by my building!  He went zooming by with 5 cop cars chasing him.  Such excitement!!

In other news, I’ve been watching The Owl Box the past couple of days.  A guy put a nesting box in his yard and installed cameras.  He said it took a few years but he finally got a barn owl nesting.  Her name is Molly and her mate is McGee; as of this posing 4 owlets have hatched and we’re still waiting on another.  It should hatch, literally, any minute now.

Theater Nazi

Tuesday, 23. March 2010 12:23

I enjoy all kinds of cultural events; movies, theater, concerts, sports, etc.  So when I was invited to see Kiss Me Kate at The Glendale Center Theater last Saturday I agreed.  I sometimes forget that I don’t always like productions at GCT…not because they aren’t good–they always are (okay, usually are)–but because producers/directors there do not know how to edit.  The movie version is only 110 minutes for goodness sake.

At two-and-a-half hours I started to get a little antsy, and bits that were clearly funny became bothersome.  At the three hour mark I wanted to start yelling, “yeah, yeah, we get it…wrap it UP already!!!”  I think the whole production was three hours and fifteen minutes and if you ask me, that is too long.  At that point I think the production so full of themselves that they’re just on stage to be on stage.  It’s a little ridiculous.  Wait…check that; in my opinion, it’s a LOT ridiculous!  I accept that others may disagree, but I think it’s excessive!

We arrived a little later than we usually like because I needed to stop at the mall to get some tennis shoes, which could have been very quick, but…well…it wasn’t (I had a little fright over the price).  Aaaaaaanywho…the point of that is, we rushed to get to the theater before the show started so I was warm from rushing around.  My two friends used the bathroom while I sat down and fanned myself with the program and held the seats.  Now, I don’t really like strangers, I don’t go out of my way to talk to them and I’m not particularly fond of them talking to me, this is the conversation that took place:

cimblog(tm): [fanning]
stranger (a woman of about 70): Does that really help?
cimblog(tm): [taken back] Um, it seems to.
stranger: I just find it distracting.
cimblog(tm): [annoyed] Well, it makes me feel better. [cimblog(tm) fans wildly]

I then made elljaypea sit next to the strange stranger.

Later that evening Strange Stranger popped some chewing gum in and proceeded to smack it loudly for a good 20 minutes.

Even later that evening Strange Stranger loudly shouted at the man in front of her.  We missed what she said exactly, but she was definitely scolding someone.

Yet later that evening (did I mention how LONG this show was?!) the woman in front of us whooped and hollered for a number she particularly enjoyed.  Strange Stranger shot daggers out of her eyes that we had to dodge!

Every time anyone did something she did not approve of she would give them a harsh look.

At the end of the show the woman in front of us was, again, whooping and hollering and Strange Stranger’s face kept contorting until she couldn’t take it another second and she hollered to this woman, “Could you stop doing that, it’s VERY ANNOYING.”  My friends and I did what any rational person in the theater would have done at that point…We whooped and hollered and whistled as loud as we could.

Photo-a-Day

A friend turned her garage into a studio apartment and asked her designer friend to come…well…design.  I was brought in to take pictures of the completed room.  I enjoy this picture.  Here are the rest if you’re interested.

In other news, I wish everyone could just be happy and provided for.  I wish that life were easier and sometimes I wish there was a magic pill that could fix it all.  I really do.
